Description:
PSCI 3353 - Law and Gender (3 semester hours) Examines how legal equality and gender discrimination have been defined, implemented and challenged in both international and U.S. law and policy. We will examine such topics as the development of international norms of women's rights, hurdles in implementing legal norms in the domestic context, and the factors that influence compliance. We will examine both case studies and empirical research, from a U.S. and a comparative perspective. (3-0) R
Class Notes:• Hybrid Course - meets in person and online This class is taught in a blended format with 43 to 44 contact hours in the classroom and 12 additional hours online instruction. The class will consist of five (5) Friday classes 9 am - 3 pm (6 hours each day with lunch break): Jan. 18, Feb. 8, March 1, March 22, and April 12; one (1) Friday 9am - 12 pm class: May 3. Plus, there will be 12 hours of online instruction (4 units between Friday sessions). This class will meet in GR 3.606 on 1/18, 2/8, 3/1, and 4/12. On 3/22, the class will meet in two rooms, GR 3.606 and GR 3.420. On 5/3, the class will meet in GR 4.204 and GR 3.606. Contact Dr. Linda Keith for more information.
